Purpose Of The Position:


The facility operator is responsible for performing a variety of duties, including maintenance of grounds, equipment and upkeep of Lake Louise Sport & Recreation Centre (LLSRC) facilities.

Under the supervision of the Manager of Facilities & Operations and the Executive Director, the Facility Operator cleans, maintains, and repairs any and all components of the LLSRC facilities and follows in detail directions and takes initiative to maintain the grounds to the expectations of the community of Lake Louise.


The facility operator will be responsible for the LLSRC building, ice surface, ball fields, tennis courts, playground, dog park, bbq area, trails, lawn and garden areas and all other areas of the LLSRC properties.


Scope:


The facility operator reports to the Manager of Facilities & Operations, the Executive Director, or Board of Directors and cares for the LLSRC owned and operated facilities and equipment.

Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the public that use and attend operations provided by the LLSRC.


Responsibilities:

  • Use tractor, ice resurfacer and other types of mechanical equipment to prepare grounds for community events, leagues and activities, encompassing: cutting and trimming lawn, aerating, maintaining landscape, grooming infield, watering grounds, lining of softball fields, snow clearing, ice resurfacing
  • High degree of customer interaction during the winter months.
  • Maintain indoor spaces through preventative maintenance, safety inspections, cleaning duties and setup/takedown.
  • Ensure quality of indoor, field and ice surfaces to accommodate various activities such as softball, soccer, hockey, public skating, figure skating and an all other activities; by installing, removing, marking and maintaining surfaces. As well as being responsible for the operation and care of the multiple surfaces, fitness centre, and the ice resurfacing and field maintenance equipment and monitoring the condition of these surfaces.
  • Maintain facilities, grounds and equipment in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner.

Main activities and focus listed:
maintain and store equipment in an orderly fashion, perform and record maintenance and repairs on all components of facilities and grounds, perform daily cleaning duties, report damages and acts of vandalism of LLSRC property, coordinate & liaise with contractors as needed, help set-up and take down decorations and equipment for programming and events, track, maintain and report supply needs report any issues to LLSRC Executive Director

  • Maintain records for maintenance and arena use
  • Document facility use
  • Document facility/equipment inspections
  • Maintain and ensure safe work practices for all tasks performed
  • Perform a variety of seasonal duties
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge:

The facility operator should have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of standard sports field maintenance, products and equipment
  • Knowledge of standard outdoor ice maintenance, products and equipment
  • Knowledge or certification of the workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS)
  • Ability to safely operate, maintain and do minor repair on tractor and ice resurfacer
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to work under little or no supervision
  • Ensure safe work practices are in place for all equipment, tools and work tasks

The incumbent would attain the knowledge, skills and personal attributes required through previous work experience and certifications such as arena operator level 1, work hazardous materials information system (WHMIS) course or equivalent experience.

The unavoidable, internally and externally exposed conditions under which the work must be performed and which create hardship for the incumbent including the frequency and duration of occurrence of physical and mental demands, environmental condition and demands of one's senses.
