WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING


The Legal Counsel, Enforcement Manager ("LCEM") reports to the Associate Director, Legal, and is responsible for managing the Enforcement group of the legal department.

The LCEM provides strategic guidance on all Enforcement files and leads the development and continuous improvement of Enforcement processes.

More specifically, this role is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the intake, investigation, and closure of files related to Unauthorized Practice and Misuse of Title ("Enforcement Files");
  • Managing the Enforcement team by providing strategic advice, reviewing and advising on investigation plans, managing performance including coaching and mentoring, and providing general guidance on activities;
  • Providing legal advice in relation to Enforcement Files;
  • Assuming the role of Investigator on particularly large, challenging, or complex Enforcement Files; and
  • Retaining and working with external legal counsel on Enforcement Files.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is required.
  • Member of the Law Society of BC, or eligible for immediate membership.
  • 57 years experience in a law firm, government, or professional regulatory body, particularly in administrative law, civil litigation or related disciplines.
  • 3+ years management experience or equivalent experience supervising staff, teams, or projects is preferred.
