Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Academic & Student Affairs the International Recruitment Officer is responsible for positively representing the University of Toronto and the Faculty of Music locally and internationally, in order to recruit well-qualified and highly performing Music students from key markets.

The incumbent will build a network of contacts in secondary schools in key countries, such as the United States, China, other parts of Asia and Europe.

The incumbent will also assist in planning and co-ordination for events and programs, both on and off campus for the Faculty of Music, directed to both domestic and international recruitment.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform recruitment strategies and plans
  • Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
  • Determining appropriate schools to visit based on an analysis of feedback and market trends
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
  • Delivering student recruitment presentations
  • Promoting programs at recruitment events
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of related student services experience, within a postsecondary institution
  • A strong background in Music is required
  • Demonstrated experience advising prospective students and parents
  • Experience with web content development, data collection and manipulation, and online communication strategies targeted to prospective students and parents required
  • Experience using and maintaining an online database
  • Experience producing print publications, marketing materials, and webbased marketing materials required
  • Experience using social media within a marketing framework is required
  • Demonstrated experience making recruitment presentations to large audiences
  • Must have working experience with data manipulation, generating reports and statistical data
  • Excellent computer skills, including indepth working knowledge of and extensive experience with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Keynote, HTML and Content Management Systems
  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working in a stressful environment, including the ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Ability to exercise initiative, good judgement, tact, discretion; welldeveloped project management and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated energy and enthusiasm for meeting new people and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Must be willing and available to travel for 13 week periods at a time, several times per year and to work evening and weekend events as required
