The MSc in Applied Computing (MScAC) program is a high-quality complement to the graduate research programs (MSc/PhD) offered by the Department of Computer Science.

As a program, we collaborate with seven other departments and faculties to provide a diverse offering of concentrations.

The departments and faculties include Cell and Systems Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistical Sciences, Physics and the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering.

Your opportunity:


Reporting to the Associate Director, MScAC Administration, this role is critical to developing effective recruitment and admissions efforts for the MSc in Applied Computing program.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing on strategies and initiatives to help advance recruitment objectives in both local and international markets.

This will include representing the University of Toronto, the Department of Computer Science and the MScAC program in a positive way, and working with a breadth of internal and external stakeholders.

It will also include engaging with prospective and admitted students at various stages in the Recruitment and Admissions cycle.

Additionally, the Recruitment and Admissions Officer will be an active participant in the admissions process, conducting applicant pre-screening, applicant interviews, and supporting various admissions functions at peak times.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing recruitment strategies and plans based on detailed data analysis and research of market trends.
  • Developing and maintaining networks of external contacts to support recruitment strategies.
  • Determining and building partnerships with appropriate contacts and institutions in local and international markets.
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and promoting the program at internal and external events, both virtually and inperson.
  • Delivering student recruitment presentations and developing country/concentration specific content for marketing or promotional materials, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives using metrics.
  • Advising potential applicants, students, and additional parties on the range of options available through MScAC, as well as the admissions criteria and processes.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of education and recent and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of recent and relevant experience in recruitment and admissions, preferably for a masters program with an industry oriented component in the fields of Computer Science, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Strong familiarity with current issues and trends in student recruitment, student life and student communications.
  • Experience identifying and developing plans and strategies to maximize recruitment opportunities in both potential and existing markets of interest.
  • Experience promoting academic programs and recruiting postgraduate students, including experience in developing, organizing, and representing academic programs at domestic and international studentfocused events, such as program information sessions and international recruitment fairs.
