This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).


In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Staff (TLAPO) Agreement, this position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $65,906 to $109,772.

This position has an initial appointment of 18 months from the date of hire.

Location:

This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person and work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.


This position is located in the Faculty of Engineering in the Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering on the University of Alberta North Campus, Edmonton.

Department/Faculty Summary


The Faculty of Engineering is looking for a relationship builder to join our team of dynamic, passionate, and effective advancement professionals.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Development, the Development Officer will be responsible for engaging prospective donors, alumni and friends to build support for the Faculty of Engineering.

Duties

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Contributes to strategy development, annual fundraising targets, and operational plans
  • Maintains a major donor/prospect portfolio
  • Meets annual metrics for visits, gifts, and proposals and leads project specific campaigns within the Faculty.
  • Tracks, documents and communicates fundraising activity in the Advance database and shares information with colleagues
  • Identifies and engages volunteers as advisors to the faculty fundraising strategies
  • Supports the activity of the Engineering Development team, identifying potential major gift prospects and moving the relationship
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Development, works collaboratively with all University Development and other External Relations central partners with responsibilities related to the Faculty of Engineering
  • Collaborates regularly with the Office of Development in External Relations on prospect identification for facultybased fundraising priorities
  • Supports annual giving strategies for the faculty and works with Office of Development in External Relations to evaluate results

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline
  • Proven experience in frontline fundraising
  • Ability to develop strategies for and implement annual gift solicitations; ability to work autonomously on a multitude of relationships, tasks, and areas simultaneously
  • Knowledge of a variety of fundraising tools and strategies as well as experience with the giving cycle
  • Ability to understand the needs and interest of donors and to transform alliances into relationships
  • Dedication to promoting the university's fundraising priorities through a passion for higher education
  • Superb interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills
