The Vice President of Development holds a key position at Kerkhoff, offering comprehensive oversight of the development department and sitting as a leadership team member.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the VP assumes a broad range of responsibilities, encompassing strategic direction, operational efficiency, and project execution within the development division.

This entails managing acquisition, marketing, development planning, financial management, scheduling, quality assurance, contract administration, and safety protocols.

As a VP of Development, your leadership plays a central role in propelling the success of Kerkhoff's development endeavors through discerning decision-making, impactful stakeholder engagement, and forward-thinking strategic planning.

The Vice President of Development also provides insight and contributes to the overall operation and strategic direction for Kerkhoff as a member of the leadership team.

As the Vice President of Development your role is centered on strategic leadership and decision-making, with a focus on overseeing the overall development department.


Setting Strategic Direction:

Define the long-term vision and objectives for the development department, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and market opportunities.


Portfolio Management:
Evaluate potential development projects, assessing their feasibility, profitability, and alignment with the company's investment strategy.

Risk Assessment and Management:
Identify and mitigate risks associated with development projects, addressing market fluctuations, regulatory challenges, and financial constraints.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with Capital Fundraising and Investor Relations colleagues to build and maintain relationships with investors, lenders, government officials, and community stakeholders, securing financing, negotiating deals, and navigating regulatory processes.


Development Team Leadership:
Provide guidance and support to the development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Resource Allocation:
Effectively allocate resources across projects, optimizing the utilization of capital, human resources, and time.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Track the performance of development projects against key metrics, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Market Analysis and

Strategy Development:
Stay informed about market trends and competitor activities, refining the company's development strategy and identifying new growth opportunities.

Compliance and Ethics:
Ensure that development activities comply with legal and ethical standards, upholding the company's reputation and integrity.

  • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement within the development department, optimizing processes and adopting best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS,

EXPERIENCE AND ASSETS:
As the Vice President of Development, you have the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Business Management, or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in development management, ideally with a minimum of twelve (12) years in senior roles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of development methodologies, local government policies, zoning regulations, and Provincial regulations, enabling effective strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Exceptional financial acumen, encompassing budgeting, cost estimation, forecasting, and financial analysis skills, crucial for overseeing large-scale development projects and managing financial resources.
  • Proficiency in utilizing development management software and tools, facilitating efficient project management and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with demonstrated skills in managing and motivating a team of development professionals to achieve project objectives.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including investors, government officials, and community members.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, enabling the analysis of complex issues and the formulation of informed strategies to address challenges.
  • Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and unforeseen obstacles.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and growth.
