Description:

The Program Lead, EMS Recruitment, Development & Retention is a key leadership position within the EMS Employee Programs portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible and accountable to provide provincial program development, direction, and operational leadership support for recruitment, development, and retention initiatives contained within the AHS EMS Service Plan (in alignment with AHS's vision, mission, and business plan).

In this role, you will provincially standardize recruitment processes for EMS positions, immediately focusing on the enhancement of consistent, inclusive, and fair hiring practices.

You will provide continuous strategic direction for all EMS leadership recruitment, acting as a consistent resource for hiring managers. As the Program Lead, you will also lead initiatives designed to develop and retain our EMS employees. These initiatives will include EMS-focused Leadership Development training and career planning resources.

You will also provide support and resources to leaders to facilitate effective performance and career developmental conversations with all the members of their teams, including frontline paramedics, other clinical and NUEE positions, and administrative staff.

You are an excellent communicator, and you will use your engagement and coalition-building skills to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders including AHS HRBP, Talent Acquisition, Diversity & Inclusion, and Talent Development.

In addition, you will also build industry-relevant external stakeholder networks to increase awareness and ensure alignment with current recruitment and retention best practices (e.g., other Canadian and International paramedic services and organizations such as the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada (PCC)).

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of Bachelor-level degree in Business Administration (including Human Resources Management), Health Administration, or a related field. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:


Minimum 5 years' people-centered experience, with coaching, leadership development, quality improvement, and recruitment strategies, ideally in an organization of substantial size and complexity.

Is client-focused, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 3 years' experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

Well defined leadership skills including comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.

Change management expertise, combined with experience developing standard processes, policies, and guidelines. Possess excellent consulting, advisory, problem solving, and analytical skills. Is proactive and able to manage multiple priorities and
