The Sales Rep performs comprehensive sales, merchandising, and account management activities, with an emphasis on increasing territory sales volume and growth within assigned territory. This Sales Rep will support customers in various channels such as Home Centers, Independent Dealers, Co Ops, and Distribution. This individual must strategically plan and execute a comprehensive set of marketplace initiatives in order to build brand development and maximize brand performance. They must have the ability to develop strong customer relationships that drives customer satisfaction. They will be expected to contribute to the overall team effectiveness and engagement resulting in exceeding expectations of the team's goals. This position will be based out of the employee's home office.

This role's sales territory covers Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Northern Saskatchewan.. The candidate will need to live/relocate within Edmonton.

  • Develop and execute growth plans for assigned strategic and key accounts within the territory
  • Develop and execute annual and bi-annual territory business plans to ensure proper focus and business analysis to deliver on sales and profit goals based upon opportunity management process
  • Responsible for influencing and negotiating new customer sales conversion identified in the business planning process
  • Deliver on both national branded and customer-driven promotions within the sales region
  • Provide quarterly market, pricing, and competitive trends within the territory while communicating customer, consumer, and category insights
  • Responsible for providing customer business solutions and retention of existing business by developing working relationships with customers, including upper management; and performing related account management activities
  • Respond to and resolve product/service/inventory issues at the store level
  • Shelf maintenance including down stockings, inventory management, and installing/maintaining promotional displays, at applicable channel
  • Maintain store signage, merchandising displays, color chip, and color card stock, at applicable channel
  • Ordering inventory of collateral to ensure inventory is stocked, at the applicable channel
  • Drive and implement all training initiatives including brand, color, product, technical, product demos, and innovation
  • Initiate the successful launch and implementation of new product and program rollouts to drive incremental sales
  • Ensure timely management of customer information and communication utilizing the Division CRM sales tool to ensure documentation of store visits, proper sales funnel growth, and sales legacy recording
  • Utilizing solid financial acumen, optimize product mix through sales training to drive profitability
  • Control expenses including travel, expenses, and all company resources
  • Foster a safety-minded culture through the development and implementation of safe working, driving, and operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Backgrounds in sales or marketing

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 3-5 years minimum experience in outside sales on a proven successful sales territory

Preferred:

  • Experience in selling to retail stores, distributors, and contractor outlets in the building supply, hardware, and DIY market
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding sales goals and ability to work as a part of a collaborative team

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Proficient interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence key internal and external team members through excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with exceptional attention to follow-up
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven ability to exceed sales and profit goals
  • Utilizing and knowledge of all sales performance tools such as the business planning process, strategic sales process, and CRM tools
  • Proven financial acumen skills and ability to build strong customer relationships
  • Ability to utilize a consultative selling approach and strategic sales process with a track record of exceeding new business development goals
  • Strong aptitude for learning with computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, CRM, etc
