Educational Assistants use their skills and knowledge to support student learning and help students access educational programs, and promote a level of independence appropriate for all students, while in compliance with relevant education and employment-related legislation, standards, regulations and policies, health and safety legislation and regulations, and HDSB policies.

EAs support the teacher in meeting the needs of specific students and/or program needs within the school.

Responsibilities may include:

assisting students with lessons, assisting students with special needs, including those with a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and/or physical abilities, including mobility, communication and personal hygiene inclusive of toileting and diapering.

Community College Diploma in Educational Support, Educational Assistant, or related field of study.

Six (6) months related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

One (1) or more years experience with children with a variety of physical and intellectual, behavioural or other learning disabilities is an asset.

Results of this testing will be provided to the School Board, who will notify candidates of their results.

Candidates must be able to accept assignments in one or more of the geographical areas within the jurisdiction of the Halton District School Board [Halton Hills (Acton & Georgetown), Burlington, Milton, and Oakville].
