JOB OVERVIEW - Ontatio Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and resultsdriven professional to join our team in the role of
Asset &Transmission Specialist.
- This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Review Hydro One outage program and analyze transmission outages and system limits as well as Hydroelectric, Nuclear and Thermal information to optimize OPG generation, coordinate on outages and capture incremental revenue opportunities.
- Negotiate with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and Hydro One to ensure successful execution of OPG outage plans with mínimal impact to OPG operations.
- Implement asset and outage strategies/plans per advice from senior staff, while observing all limits and constraints (e.g., legal, regulatory, etc.)
- Manage the optimization of assets and advise Managers and stakeholders as required on key issues pertaining to asset management and outage optimization.
- Contribute to the implementation and communication of asset management and outage optimization reports to stakeholders.
- Provide assistance to senior staff in continuously developing and maintaining an efficient system to manage assets while ensuring customer satisfaction both internal and external to OPG.
- Provide market analysis and knowledge of physical transmission system and limitations in Ontario and surrounding markets such as PJM, NYISO, MISO, NEPOOL, Hydro Quebec, etc.
- Review Operating Security Limit impacts with the IESO.
- Support the effort to ensure tools and processes are in place to support the asset management and outage optimization processes, and the transfer of information to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and other organizations such as Hydro One as legally required and to meet due diligence requirements.
- Provide training as required on the transmission system and power system operations and limits.
- Assist other Asset and Transmission Management staff, to optimize the value of the OPG portfolio (i.e., work as part of a team in a transactional environment to collectively optimize the entire portfolio)
- Work with other staff to support the assessment/impact of complex outages pertaining to generation assets.
- Implement asset strategies/plans per advice from senior staff, while observing all limits and constraints (e.g., legal, regulatory, etc.)
- Manage the optimization of assets and advise Managers and stakeholders as required on key issues pertaining to asset management.

EDUCATION
- 4year University degree in Electrical Engineering
QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
