  • The Government and Community Relations Coordinator works in an officebased environment located at our Corporate office in Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB.
  • The Government and Community Relations Coordinator will be expected to travel on an occasional basis to support inperson meetings and occasionally work weekends and evenings, as required.

Position Overview:

The Government and Community Relations Specialist will be responsible for variety of strategic and administrative duties.


The Government and Community Relations Coordinator will play a pivotal role in cultivating, maintaining, and fostering robust connections and strong relationships with local, municipal, and provincial government officials, community leaders and other community stakeholders to promote our aviation initiatives.


The role requires a deep understanding of aviation regulations, government policies, and community dynamics to advocate for our aviation initiatives.

The Government and Community Relations Coordinator must be comfortable managing multiple shifting priorities and dealing with emergent requests that are often time sensitive and will be accountable for the following duties:

Government Relations:

  • Professionally represent Flair at external meetings, forums, and workshops.
  • Liaise with government officials, agencies, and policymakers to advocate for favorable policies and regulations aligned with company objectives.
  • Coordinate responses to government inquiries, requests for information, and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Represent the company in government meetings and industry associations to influence decisionmaking processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop strategic approaches for government outreach and advocacy efforts.
  • Stay informed of legislative changes, regulatory updates, and policy developments relevant to the aviation sector in Canada.

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Assist in developing annual and monthly reporting to the Chief of Staff.
  • Schedule meetings, take accurate meeting minutes, prepare reports, memos and other written materials and briefing documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare letters in response to federal, provincial, and municipal government initial consultation notifications.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of federal, provincial, and municipal government legislation, policy, programs, and projects.
  • Liaise efficiently with external lobbyists, government, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Communicate company initiatives, projects, and achievements to government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders through various channels.
  • Provide regular updates on regulatory developments, changes, community engagements, and stakeholder feedback to management and relevant departments.

Community Engagement and Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations and government to cultivate and nurture relationships and act as a liaison between the company and local communities.
  • Brainstorm, plan, and manage activities to achieve public relations goals and execute events aligned with corporate strategy.
  • Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events to promote Flair's ideas, products, or services.
  • Work closely with the communications team to promote Flair within the community.
  • Attend relevant events and activities to represent Flair and build strong relationships with key community members.
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties.
  • Organize and coordinate Chamber renewals.
  • Communicate Chamber events and work with the COS on coordinate internal stakeholder representation.
  • Communicate Chamber of Commerce events that Flair internal team members can participate in.
  • Schedule and help with supporting coordinate Chamber member presentations. (Coffee with the Chamber, Business leader's presentations, Flair Economical Impact Study).
  • Respond to community inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a timely and respectful manner.

Business Awards

  • Keep electronic database of all proposals, business award summaries, contracts, reports, risk assessments, close out checklists, amendments and any other award related documents.
  • Track awards and subawards closeouts.
  • Coordinate and ensure award close out plans are developed for all the awards before the end dates and coordinate the close out meetings.
  • Coordinate with Chief of Staff to draft full award packages.
  • Coordinate with Chief of Staff for award company submission plan for 2024/2025.
