About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President of People and Culture, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a key member of the People and Culture team whose primary role is to provide continual improvement and integrated HR solutions in line with Amii's overall business strategy.

Together with the organization's People Leaders, the HRBP works on setting priorities, driving organizational values and delivering business results by being a people champion, a change agent, a strategic partner and an administrative expert.

The HRBP needs to maintain an effective level of business literacy about each product unit's plans, goals, culture and competition to be able to provide customer-focused, sustainable HR solutions.

The role focuses on achieving excellence in three main accountabilities:

  • Coaching and consulting leadership: Acting as a trusted advisor to empower leadership to manage people-related matters. Working together with leadership and team members to solve conflicts and help facilitate positive employee relations, maintain a good working environment, build morale, and decrease unwanted turnover.
  • Handson, daytoday support of all HR programs and initiatives; this includes but is not limited to recruitment, training and development, employee relations, performance management and employee engagement events and activities. Plays a crucial role in ensuring that Amii attracts and retains top industry talent.
  • Being Amii's employee experience champion: Implement HRM interventions on employee wellness, diversity and inclusion, and talent management to maintain positive employee relations, a good working environment and build morale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and support a range of processes including employee engagement, employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, discipline, promotion, learning and development, workforce planning, occupational health & safety and succession planning to various business groups in support of Amii's strategic plan.
  • Create and be responsible for a strategic talent acquisition and onboarding plan, being mindful of DEI strategies.
  • Recommend, develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures as required by the organization.
  • Provide guidance to management on policies, employee job duties, working conditions, wages, employee development and benefit programs.
  • Responding to workplace complaints, including investigation of harassment issues.
  • Conduct internal surveys to gather employee feedback and identify areas of improvement. Suggest proactive solutions to improve the overall employee experience.
  • Monitor, report and advise on key recruiting metrics, like turnover and retention rates
  • Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
  • Develop and deliver learning solutions to meet employee needs and organizational goals.
  • Provide employee relations support by coaching People Leaders on team member issues relating to conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, succession planning and promotion to resolve complex situations.
  • Work closely with management and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Coach and advise managers in effective conduct and management of all performance management processes and supporting practical HR solutions that promote the relationship between the leader and the employee as the primary employment relationship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post secondary degree in Human Resources Management
  • CPHR Designation is an asset
  • Minimum 510 years' progressive experience in Human Resources Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including
- full cycle recruitment
- compensation practices,
- organizational diagnosis,
- employee and labour relations,
- diversity, equity and inclusion,
- performance management,
- learning and development,
- health, safety and well-being, and
- provincial employment standards

  • Knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and Human Rights Legislation required.
  • Experience in leading projects and implementing new initiatives with a change management lens
