Job Description

The Sr. Field Service Technician must be a Canadian citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance(s) as required by government contracts.

Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems. Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure. Program, configure, optimize, test and document complex communications systems. Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments. Provide a very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges. Capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues. Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system implementation, upgrades or support issues Total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques Team with System Technologist, Engineering, Project Management and Sales personnel to effectively design, implement, optimize and cutover advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations

Preferred Skills:

Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of Server Environment, Linux, Windows Server, VMware, highly desirable Must be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams Must be capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues. Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, HP, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel

Candidate Requirements:

Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s). Travel Percentage will be around 50% Bilingual French/English - Must be able to work also in English with our English-speaking clients, customers and partners outside Quebec, as well as, with the rest of the colleagues in Canada, the United States and in other international countries as applicable.

Compétences privilégiées:

Expérience, bonne compréhension et connaissance pratique des réseaux IP, des méthodologies de conception de réseau et du dépannage (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) Expérience, bonne compréhension et connaissance pratique de l'environnement serveur, Linux, Windows Server, VMware, hautement souhaitable Doit être très compétent en informatique avec une maîtrise de MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Doit avoir de solides compétences en autogestion et de l'entregent afin de travailler en étroite collaboration avec les clients et les sous-traitants de Motorola, ainsi qu'avec les équipes de vente, d'ingénierie, de gestion de projet et de service client de Motorola. Doit être capable d'installer le matériel serveur/OS et l'infrastructure logicielle et de dépanner pour résoudre les problèmes liés au système/application. Doit être capable de résoudre rapidement les problèmes des clients lors de situations stressantes Expérience/connaissance des systèmes de communication radio, propagation radio, RF, sans fil ou large bande/LTE hautement souhaitable Connaissances préalables et expérience de travail en partie ou avec la totalité de Juniper, HP, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel

Basic Requirements

Associates Degree and 3+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering or Networking equipment. Must be a Canadian citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts
