Toronto, Ontario, Canada Child Development Institute Full time

Children are at the front and centre of what we do; they are the foundation of our purpose and the basis for our evidence-driven strategy.

Our mission is to transform the lives of children, youth and their families by developing and delivering innovative, research-based mental health and early learning programs.

At the Child Development Institute (CDI), we are passionate about helping our communities' most vulnerable members and their caregivers.

Joining us now is a rewarding opportunity to be part of an organization that is built on a legacy of more than 100 years of helping children and families.

Recognized as a leader and model for measurement-based impact, we are client-centred, family-centred, and data-informed.

We are a place where professionals grounded in mental health, care, and well-being of infants, children and youth, come together in collaboration, learning and inclusion.

As a multiservice organization delivering social, emotional, and behavioural counselling services, early childhood education, learning disabilities and mental health services, and family violence services, we address the whole person from when they begin their life.

Every child and family that reaches out to us is unique, and we value and embrace their individuality. With their trust in us, we guide children and families along a supportive journey. It is an often difficult path and simultaneously the most rewarding experience for providers, children and families.

Provide leadership in developing and implementing the Human Resources and IDEA strategy.

You will coach and train a team of human resources professionals, serve as the influential voice for HR strategies and initiatives, and collaborate at the organizational level to determine priorities.

You will establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of service delivery of all HR functions and programming to ensure the highest service levels.

Manage employee and labour relations strategies.

You will provide comprehensive training to managers and directors on employee and labour relations, offer support and coaching to management, conduct workplace investigations, handle grievances, arbitrations, and mediations, and participate in discipline and performance management meetings.

You will build and maintain appropriate, constructive working relationships with union leadership to ensure a positive labour relations environment, oversee the collective bargaining process and participate in Labour management committee(s).

Oversee the implementation of equitable total rewards programs.

You will lead the development of a total rewards program, ensuring it is competitive, reflects internal talent objectives and market conditions, supports recruitment and retention strategies, and is cost-effective.

Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices.

You will provide leadership to maintain organizational health and safety policies, programs, and initiatives that reduce risk, safeguard worker safety, follow legislative requirements.

Manage assigned financial resources and budgets.

You will manage negotiations and guide the administration of HR Services such as benefits, pension plans, Group RRSP, Long Term and Short-Term Disability, including reviewing cost effectiveness, seeking alternatives, and negotiating plan improvements and modifications where necessary.

You have broad expertise in Human Resources, Talent Management, and IDEA initiatives in a unionized environment and, ideally in a not-for-profit.

You have experience designing, developing, and rolling out critical HR initiatives and a track record of providing HR advice and solutions to leaders and individuals on employee and organizational issues.

You demonstrate an understanding of HR and EDI practices in Canada and understand relevant legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance requirements, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code and Pay Equity Act.

You have expertise in operations, employee engagement, performance management, change management, career development, compensation, employment law, and other compliance matters.

You are proficient with MS Office Suite and an HRIS such as Dayforce.

You have the people and conflict management skills to overcome challenging issues through to closure and help managers build high-performing teams.
