About the Opportunity

The Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University Vancouver Campus invites applications for one or more positions at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor/Associate Teaching Professor/Full Teaching Professor beginning January 2024 or September 2024 at our campus in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where we offer MSc programs. We also offer the Align program, an international initiative to close the tech diversity gap by offering an innovative bridge to the Master of Science in CS for non-computer science majors. We are seeking highly motivated individuals committed to high-quality, inclusive teaching and equity in computer science. Full-time appointments at all ranks are career-focused, non-tenure-track positions with responsibilities in teaching and service. Khoury College also supports teaching faculty to pursue impactful activities beyond teaching and service responsibilities. Many teaching faculty are active in research and scholarship, diversity initiatives, and service to their local communities.

Northeastern University's Khoury College has grown rapidly over the last five years in response to increased student demand at the BSc, MSc, and PhD levels, and we expect to continue this rapid growth for the next several years. We invite you to join a university with significant support for teaching-track faculty and an underlying mission that is driven by our motto of "CS for Everyone." Khoury College is committed to diversity and inclusion in computer science. We aim to establish a computing population—students, faculty, researchers, and staff—that reflects today's global society. Building relationships with students and service to the college and university are integral components of the position.

Northeastern University's Vancouver campus is home over 400 full- and part-time graduate students.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking faculty to teach graduate courses, from introductory to advanced levels in Computer Science, as well intensive introductory courses in the Align bridge for students without a background in computer science.. The successful candidate will teach courses, create course content and materials, and collaborate with colleagues to develop academic relationships within the university and the local community.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution by the appointment start date. Appointment rank will be commensurate with experience.

Please submit a cover letter of interest highlighting teaching accomplishments and relevant professional experience. Candidates must also submit a teaching statement, a diversity statement, and a curriculum vitae.

Teaching statement: Please summarize your past instructional and/or mentorship experiences, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching at Northeastern (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity statement: Please provide a statement of your contributions to diversity that describes your past experience, activities, and future plans to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging in your teaching, service, and impactful work outside the classroom. Some faculty candidates may not have substantial past activities. If that is the case, we recommend focusing on future plans in your statement.

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and includes an outstanding benefits package.
