Alpha Healthcare is looking for Medical Laboratory Assistants to join our team in Welland.

Job Type:

Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify completeness and accuracy of OHIP documentation and associated paperwork
  • Enter all data from laboratory requisitions into the Laboratory Information System
  • Collect quality blood samples and other specimens from patients using skilful
venipuncture techniques

  • Ensure all samples are properly identified, labelled, processed and prepared for
transportation in accordance with laboratory protocols

  • Perform ECGs and Holter hookups
  • Handle stat, verbal and special instructions as required in a timely manner
  • Create an ideal patient experience and maintain quality metrics.
  • Ensure confidential information is protected in a secure manner at all times.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent, with
specialized training in phlebotomy

  • OSMT certification
  • Demonstrated skills in phlebotomy with the ability to manage anxious patients during the
sample collection process.

  • Proficiency in English both written and verbal at a level that enables clear
communication of instructions to patients.

  • Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Intermediate level computer skills and demonstrated ability to data enter information
accurately and efficiently

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, selfmanage and multitask
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative team player
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Commitment to quality and excellence in patient care
