Payroll/Accounting Clerk to join its Finance team.

SUMMARY OF ROLE:


Reporting directly to the Controller, the Payroll/Accounting Clerk will ensure accurate payroll data processing, and will assist in accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND/OR SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Data entry into inhouse accounting software for payroll
  • Setup and maintenance of employees files
  • Calculation of union remittances and government source deductions
  • Reconciliation of weekly payroll reports
  • Respond to inquiries from and corresponds with external agents
  • Assist with month end and year end procedures where necessary
  • Other duties may be assigned at any given time based on the business trends/demands
  • Perform such other duties or responsibilities as may be determined by Controller
  • Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with Company safety policy/procedures
  • Ensures that environmental aspects within the sphere of responsibility are adhered to

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a College Diploma, or University Degree in Business or Accounting
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Familiar with accounting aspects of payroll and accounts receivable
  • Numerically inclined

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum two years' experience in a related field
  • Payroll and accounting experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated speed and accuracy of computerized data input
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain highly confidential & sensitive information
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
