Opportunity
MacEwan University is searching for a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (Exercise Specialist II) for a part-time position within our Griffins Athletics team. Reporting to the Director of Griffins Athletics, you will collaborate with Head Coaches and Athletic Therapy professionals to design and oversee strength and conditioning programs for student athletes at MacEwan Athletics, tailored to each team's specific requirements to enhance performance and prevent injuries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing thorough fitness and health assessments for athletes to understand their fitness levels and focus areas;
- Collaborating with coaches to align programming with team goals and requirements;
- Creating evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for all varsity teams, customizing training based on individual needs and injury history;
- Delivering programming to athletes, educating them on techniques and recovery;
- Maintaining communication with coaches on training schedules and individual needs;
- Assessing athlete progress and offering feedback;
- Updating coaches on athlete performance and adjustments to the program;
- Working with Athletic Therapists to support injured athletes with tailored programs;
- Developing monitoring systems for athletes and coaches;
- Maintaining a programming manual for coaches and athletes;
- Assisting in fitness testing for teams;
- Providing off-season fitness recommendations.

Skills
Requirements include strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and adaptability to changing priorities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year diploma in relevant fields;
- CSEP-CPT certification or equivalent;
- Experience with high-performance athletes;
- Combination of education and experience considered.

- Flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends based on athletic events.
