Purpose:


The Program Assistant is the assistant to the Masters of Finance (MF) Program Director and main contact and resource person for the MF program and Finance Area, as well as assigned/associated area(s).

This position contributes to the smooth day-to-day operations by providing secretarial and administrative support to the Finance Area, and faculty, and provides front-line customer service to the Finance PhD, BBA, MBA, and MF students.


Education:

High School Graduation with secretarial and administrative training or equivalent.

Experience:

Two years of recent advanced work-related experience (e.g. preparing/processing documents, assembling information, coordinating activities, maintaining files, customer service) preferably at a post-secondary academic environment.

Skills:

Typing wpm, accuracy is essential.

Demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas:

advanced level Word skills, intermediate level Excel skills, basic to intermediate experience with databases, accuracy essential, ability to accurately interpret and summarize information, obtaining and providing information in a clear and concise manner, good written communication skills, minute-taking, attending accurately to details and working effectively under pressures of high volume and constantly changing priorities, exercising tact and diplomacy, dealing courteously and effectively with diverse groups of people at all levels, excellent interpersonal skills, providing excellent customer service, excellent organizational skills, including setting priorities and meeting deadlines, event planning, budget monitoring skills, working accurately with figures, maintaining files and records, exercising initiative and good judgement, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality.

Hours of work:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Requests to work overtime may occur during peak periods.

Peak periods for this position:
August, September, December, January due to increased activity related the preparation and start of terms

Vacation restriction:
During peak periods.
