Midwife - Expanded Midwifery Care Model
The Midwife will provide antenatal care in an outpatient setting within the hospital, with a strong focus on prenatal education and home-based postpartum care up to 6 weeks with an emphasis on supporting mental health, connection with community services and supporting feeding plans.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree in Midwifery
- Certificate of Registration with the College of Midwives of Ontario
- Minimum five years related experience
- Current and maintained professional liability insurance coverage
- A valid Ontario driver's license (G class), use of a vehicle, and current insurance coverage
- Adaptability, flexibility and ability to evolve the program on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of the new program
- Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Groupwise, and the Internet)
- Demonstrated ability to provide education in addictions, trauma informed care and perinatal mental health disorders
- Able to work well in an interdisciplinary environment and have the ability to uphold our unique midwifery model and values in various health care environments
- Ability to develop systems to manage data on outcomes in order to meet program reporting requirements
- Ability to develop individualized care plans for participants of the program that meet midwifery clinical and psychosocial support needs
- Demonstrated skill in creation and delivery of educational content
- Demonstrated Self-Starter with strong organization skills
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
