_ This is a full-time position directly reporting to the Director of Centre Operations; pay rate as agreed, based on experience, expertise, and applicable education._

***The primary responsibility of the Outreach Support Worker is to build relationships with persons who are struggling with addiction (clients), who may be also marginalized and homeless, and/or are in need of support and resources. The work centre is the Teen Challenge Community Office, which is an inner city presence in the addictions community.


Responsibilities include fostering a safe, caring, supportive, nurturing, and healthy environment; and advocating for clients to address their issues related to addiction.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Willingness and ability to work in a manner that aligns with the mission, vision, and core values of Teen Challenge Canada
  • Build trust relationships with people with addiction issues, or who wish to connect with the Community Office in regards to Teen Challenge as a program
  • Host various support and/or study groups, to teach Teen Challenge curriculum, including peer support groups, aftercare recovery groups, or other types of groups as required or directed
  • Provide access and integration with community services including housing, medical/dental, counselling, detox, mental health, legal, and other services
  • Support efforts to promote the clients' spiritual needs
  • Maintain a safe, clean and harmonious environment for clients and the general public
  • Advocate for clients to receive outpatient counselling services, and participate in therapy groups, through specialized staff or services
  • Support development opportunities, such as Sunday morning outreaches, and other Teen Challenge events
