Position Description:

***The Manager, Health Records will ensure St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton's policies, procedures and practices are in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Mental Health Act (MHA) and all other relevant federal or provincial legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Health Information Certification in good standing with (CHIM) or equivalent HIM designation.
  • Postsecondary education in a recognized accredited Health Information Management program
  • Bachelors Degree in a related discipline
  • Professional experience working in Health Information Management required
  • Minimum two years working with and interpreting legislation applicable to the role
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, and communication and presentation
  • Excellent understanding of hospital operations
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team setting

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and implement hospital policies, practices, and procedures governing all aspects of health information management
  • Establish and implement standards for monitoring of data integrity, accuracy, validity, authenticity, and version control
  • Ensure the qualitative and quantitative analysis of records consistent with SJHH and provincially regulated documentation standards and mandatory requirements
  • Ensure all authorized requests for information, processing and releasing information occurs in accordance with all applicable organizational and provincial laws such as the Personal Health Information Protection Act ("PHIPA")
