As a unit within the Division of Student Affairs, the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) is responsible for providing institutional leadership in the delivery of a comprehensive student-focused accessible learning model and delivers training and education to further the University's commitment to provide equal access to all academic programs.
CAL provides advice and consultation on the University's legal and regulatory compliance with the BC Human Rights Code, the Ministry of Advanced Education, and University policy and procedures.
Keeping current with best professional practices, standards, and research, CAL facilitates equal access to all university academic opportunities.CAL's work is designed and guided by theories and knowledge of universally designed instruction, student learning and development, CAS Standards, and reflects developmental and demographic profiles while remaining responsive to relevant campus stakeholders.
CAL is a core academic support unit for both students and faculty and contributes to the recruitment and retention of students as well as their academic and personal success.
This role is responsible for ensuring that accommodated examinations are carried out in accordance with University of Victoria regulations, and to provide students with a positive and supportive exam experience.

- Job Requirements
Experience:
Must have previous experience in a similar position, preferably in a post-secondary, exam environment, or institutional environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Previous exam invigilation experience
- Familiarity with UVic services and programs
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated service excellence to students and others
- Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail, time management, and ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment, as well as the larger UVic community.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff, often in the context of emotional distress and/or crisis
- Experience in effectively maintaining the confidentiality of highly personal and sensitive information
- Ability to exercise initiative, active listening skills, good judgement, tact, and diplomacy
- Ability to meet standards of confidentiality and academic integrity
- Ability to respond to situations of emotional/health distress or crisis, without onsite supervision. When required, escalate to Supervisor, Exam Services or other campus supports (i.e. counselling services, campus security)
- Experience working with a variety of adaptive technology such as Kurzweil and Dragon is an asset
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
