Our Retail teams work alongside our partners in Wealth, Small Business, and Mobile Mortgage Specialists to support our Members' holistic financial growth. As Manager, Program Lending: You will assist in the creation and execution of a Program Lending strategy for Meridian, and report into the Director, Program Lending. The Manager, Program Lending's primary focus will be programs relating to Franchising, Professionals and Condo Corp Loans. The role will require extensive collaboration skills and the ability to work well with our internal partners, such as marketing/product and credit. The Manager, Program Lending with will need to exercise policy writing and analytical skills, combined with a solid foundation built from several years' experience in business sales and credit knowledge as they work with partners to create and maintain various franchise/professional Lending programs. The Manager, Program Lending is primarily responsible for identifying specific franchising opportunities for Meridian to pursue franchising programs and will also be accountable for referring sales opportunities to the field. You will be the subject matter expert for Meridian in both the Franchise and Professionals space and will be a resource to our Small Business Advisors and our Branch Network as a whole. What you will do:
  • Create and maintain (with the appropriate support of partners) targeted Franchise programs for Business banking delivery to proactively pursue in their markets, this includes the creation and ongoing support of program specific campaigns to support the various programs.
  • Maintain business relationships with key contacts at each of the approved Franchisees by having regular meetings by phone, virtual or in-person meetings. Targeting quarterly contacts.
  • Provide ongoing support to our front-line sales teams as they continue these programs. This includes working closely with the new Senior Manager Professionals.
  • Track and report growth in terms of referrals, Member and sales dollar growth, & new Franchisor programs to Director of Small Business for distribution to Meridian's Management & Executive Leadership Team.
  • Represent Meridian at various external events such as tradeshows, conferences, Franchisor and professional events etc.
  • Complete periodic intel on competitive business banking offers in both the franchising and professionals' space and help to maintain and grow our Membership by assisting our partners with delivering exceptional Member experience.
  • Maintain weekly discussions with Condo Corp seeking to drive new loans and improving on current procedures to enhance the relationship by removing any unnecessary hurdles.
  • Maintain a regular focus on Condo Corp Portfolio with Program Lending Specialist. Have weekly touch-base meetings to ensure all new loan applications, renewal applications and annual reviews are completed within SLA targets. Review irregularity (RIL) items with Program Lending Specialist on a regular basis to ensure compliance is maintained.
How you will succeed:
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant financial services environment including sales, credit, financial & risk analysis, all lending products, as well as experience in structuring small business credit offerings.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in growing and supporting business portfolio and ensuring member banking needs are met at the highest level.
  • Direct experience and involvement in business development and client services.
  • Knowledge of the franchising market, products and services, applicable risk management policies and legal and security documentation for small business and franchising products.
  • Knowledge of the Professionals Banking industry and our current program offerings.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit & comfortable working independently.
  • Previous business lending (preferably franchise lending) and banking experience.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and business analysis.
  • Collaborative team player that proactively contributes to initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical abilities to analyze trends and ensure Members needs are met.
Join us This role is hybrid. Office Locations are 3330 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, and 75 Corporate Park Dr, St. Catharines. The successful candidate must be willing to travel across Ontario.
