JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Network Architect.

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture & Strategy, we are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Network and Connectivity Architect to join our team, with a focus on IT/OT (Information Technology/Operational Technology) integration.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure and connectivity for our organization, with a particular emphasis on integrating IT and OT systems and leveraging the latest mobile communication technologies. You will work closely with the IT and OT teams to ensure that our network and connectivity are stable, secure, and scalable, and that they meet the needs of our users.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Design and implement network and connectivity infrastructure solutions, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, and mobile communication technologies such as LTE and 5G. Analyze and assess network and connectivity performance and make recommendations for improvement. Configure and maintain network and connectivity equipment, including routers, switches, base stations, and antennas. Monitor and troubleshoot network and connectivity issues and resolve problems as needed. Collaborate with the IT and OT teams to develop and maintain network and connectivity security protocols and policies. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and make recommendations for incorporating them into the network and connectivity infrastructure. Lead and mentor junior network and connectivity engineers, providing guidance and support as needed. Other duties as required.

EDUCATION

4 years bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires 10 years and up to and including 12 years in network architecture covering both business and technology architecture solutions, including IT products, services and capabilities is considered necessary to gain this experience. 7+ years of experience in network and connectivity engineering and architecture Knowledge of network and connectivity security best practices and experience with security technologies such as firewalls and VPNs Strong knowledge of OT technologies, protocols, and standards Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication and teamwork skills Experience with IT/OT integration and the ability to bridge the gap between IT and OT systems. Experience with LTE and 5G technologies and their deployment and maintenance.
