We are looking for a Battery Lab Technician to support our Energy, Mining and Environment (EME) Research Centre. The Battery Lab Technician would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


The Battery Lab Technician provides technical expertise on experimental test methods to ensure that project objectives are met in a timely manner.

He/She plans and conducts test, collects and compiles data, prepares and installs lab equipment based on specifications. The technician is also responsible for the coordination of lab resources and the maintenance of electronic equipments.

Screening Criteria:

Education:

College diploma in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technician.

Experience:

  • Significant* experience using electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Significant* experience diagnosing electrical equipment issues and performing calibration/repairs.
  • Basic experience designing, instrumenting and conducting experimental tests.
  • Significant experience means at least five (5) years.

Equivalency:

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Condition of Employment:

  • Secret (II)
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be able to work in environments where chemical and oil mists are common.

  • Expert knowledge of electrical principles and power electronics.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical codes/regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products and operating systems.
  • Solid handson mechanical skills.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop tool usage, forklift.

Assets:

  • Basic knowledge of control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of electrochemistry.
  • Basic experience with advanced software programing tools, such as LabView, VB or Arduino.
  • Experience with extracting, disassembly, assembly and installation of lithiumion batteries.

Compensation:

From $73,744 to $94,839 per annum.
