The opportunity

The Senior Manager, Finance Wealth Management is responsible for key finance functions for CWB's Wealth Management business. They develop and implement strategies to align revenue-related policies and processes. This leader drives continuous improvement, ensuring operational efficiency. They work closely with the WM team, offering insights and expertise to support client inquiries and relationships.

Areas of focus

Wealth Management Revenue

Oversees revenue management, including processing, invoicing, recording, reconciliations and analyses. Identifies and resolves revenue gaps with the VP Finance and WM teams. Ensures client documents and invoices reflect appropriate fees and charges. Conducts monthly revenue close and system reconciliations with external brokers. Prepares referral fee reports and reconciles third-party management fees accurately.

Accounting

Prepares and consolidates CWB Wealth Management budgets with WM Senior Management. Prepare monthly management financial reports for the various lines of business with analyses of actual results versus budgets. Supports audits, coordinating information flow and responding to external and internal audit queries. Leads month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, overseeing a team of three.

Compensation

Manages variable compensation processes for Private Wealth Specialists, Advisors, and Investment Counsellors across the Wealth entities. Obtains, validates, and distributes data for commission calculations quarterly or semi-annually. Prepares and reviews month-end compensation entries, account reconciliations, and commission payouts for transitions.

Successful incumbent

This role requires someone with excellent leadership, analytical, and reconciliation skills, who can coach and support team performance. They must excel in building collaborative relationships, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities, and communicate effectively at all levels. The ideal candidate will efficiently handle large data volumes, maintain attention to detail, understand audit requirements, and demonstrate a high level of accountability for actions and outcomes.

Core knowledge requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in commerce or in Business Administration. CPA designation Strong understanding of IFRS including experience applying professional judgement. Advanced skills with the use of MS Office Suite programs and other relevant software programs.

Demonstrated experience

6+ years of experience in accounting, including at least 5 years leading small teams. 3+ years of experience in the wealth management industry. Experience in publicly traded and complex service-oriented organizations is considered an asset.
