Description:

Speech-language pathologists work on diagnosing, assessing, and treating various communication disorders such as speech, fluency, language, voice, and swallowing issues.

Job duties:

Here are some of the key activities and responsibilities you'll handle as a speech-language pathologist:

  • Administer tests and examinations to evaluate speech, voice, language, fluency, and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement remedial programs for various communication disorders
  • Create personalized care plans as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Educate and support patients and families on communication and swallowing disorders
  • Conduct research on communication disorders and diagnostic procedures
  • Supervise other healthcare personnel
  • Perform other relevant duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Certification by the College of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous medical education
  • Ability to handle a wide range of health issues across all age groups
