The Testing Centre Information Management Specialist supports, implements, evaluates, and promotes testing services for the Mohawk Testing Centre including External Testing, Accommodated Testing, Missed and Makeup Testing, Assessments for Success and Pre-Admission Testing.

They will also be responsible for supporting other student success initiatives at all campuses as required.


The incumbent will also support all technical and administrative aspects of the daily operation of the Fennell, IAHS and Stoney Creek Testing Centres as well as systems Accommodate, RegisterBlast, Accuplacer, Maple TA, survey software platforms, pre-admission tools.

The incumbent will also be responsible for the delivery and support of Adaptive Technology software including Dragon, Kurzweil, Jaws and ZoomText to provide students with disabilities the tools they need to successfully write their tests and exams.

The position requires a high level of technical knowledge, troubleshooting and analysis on a daily basis to ensure the efficient administration of all academic testing that takes place at the Testing Centres and other student success initiatives.


What you'll be doing:

Operations and Programming
-
Day-to-day operations of the Testing Centre including External Testing, Academic Testing (Accommodated and Missed/Makeup Testing), Assessments for Success and Pre-Admissions testing, such as scheduling invigilators, answering staff inquiries, troubleshooting student scheduling conflicts and coordinating testing session.

  • Follow up with students or faculty if accurate test bookings policies and procedures are not being followed.
  • Program, customize, extract, compile, manipulate, verify and input data into customized databases to foster smooth testing process students.
  • Write and then determine the best means to disseminate the reports once prepared.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system problems.
  • Programming to the internal testing database (VBA Script) and systems (Accommodate and RegisterBlast) required as there are changes in testing requirements.
  • Develop, customize and support new LMS courses for external and internal tests as needed.
  • Works in partnership with staff, faculty & marketing to develop outreach materials to promote testing services on campus.
  • Coordinates outreach to students and faculty regarding relevant tests and testing deadlines.
  • Assesses and provides recommendations on new tools, software and/or hardware needed for any of the Testing Centres.
  • Arranges and facilitates training and demonstrations for parttime and casual staff.
  • Develops training material for students and faculty.

Information and Data Management
-
Managing the scheduling and registration for all incoming testing requests.

  • Manipulate and input data from online student test bookings ensuring students are correctly booking their accommodated test appointment.
  • Assist with preparation for upcoming testing cycle by contacting and meeting with all affected departments, verifying testing policies, providing information to staff members, preparing literature to send to students and updating customized database.
  • Plan, consult and organize Assessments for Success sessions required by all incoming students to the college by liaising with various college departments including Admissions, Scheduling and Registration and all affected departments, especially ALS, Language Studies and Mathematics.
  • Resolve technical issues, troubleshoot system errors and modify script as needed during testing periods at various times, including evenings and weekends, and at all Mohawk College campuses.
  • Consult and initiate, as needed, close communication with the Testing Centre Manager to assist in the preparation, manipulation, retrieval, compilation and analysis of data as required for various research projects.
  • Oversee the overall functionality and technical troubleshooting of systems such as Accommodate, Registerblast and Access booking portals.
  • Data manipulation in way of vlookups and excel cross referencing to ensure accuracy in test administration
