Offshore Wind Farm engineer

Toronto, Ontario, Canada hays-gcj-v4-pd-online Full time
You will be working for Ireland's largest energy and electricity provider, in their offices in North Dublin.

You will be an integral part of the Renewables Projects section within the Engineering and Major Projects section, who provide project management and engineering services in support of renewable power generation for internal and for external clients.

Renewable projects include onshore wind, offshore wind, solar PV and battery storage.

Their projects range from major utility scale offshore wind farms over 1GW to small distributed solar projects or battery projects.

This role will be based out of the North Dublin office. Domestic and international travel will also be a feature of this role.

This role involves working in partnership with Asset Development to develop projects as the business case evolves, and progressing projects based on risks and opportunities.

Wind energy has been identified as a key part of the organization's strategy to increase renewable generation capacity to 5GW by 2030.

Projects are expected to be developed from a number of sources including development opportunities and acquisitions.

Given the differing requirements, Engineering and Major Projects (EMP) will develop flexible solutions to meet these requirements and are required to adapt to the changing environment.

You will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with project personnel (Project Managers and Technical Leads) in addition to Supply Chain, Procurement and Commercial personnel, along with engaging with discipline leads & key stakeholders (both internally & externally) with respect to key technical & commercial inputs to levelised cost of electricity (LCoE) models.

You will lead LCoE analysis of OSW project configurations.

This will involve a mixture of coordinating and/or performing modeling of specialized analysis for Layouts, energy yield analysis (EYA), Transportation & installation (T&I) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) in collaboration with discipline leads.

Furthermore, you will manage and lead cost benchmarking exercises (utilizing estimation tools for DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX) in collaboration with technical leads.

Additionally, you will procure, own, and develop a robust understanding of modeling software packages, managing all engagement with software providers.

We are looking to speak with candidates who have a primary engineering level 8 degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant work experience.

You will have a minimum of 3-4 years' experience in a similar role, with a strong appreciation and expertise in the commercial and technical aspects of project design and construction.

Previous experience with cost estimating, an understanding of offshore wind projects lifecycle costs and drivers cost reduction and MSc / Chartered Engineer status is desirable, but not a requirement for this position.

You will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the opportunity to lead Ireland's transition to a net zero carbon future.

A progressive, hybrid-working model is in operation, along with excellent career development through mentoring and training. Along with this, you will have access to various staff well-being programs and comprehensive diversity and inclusion programs.
