***Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Manager of Community Initiatives/Mental Health Programs is responsible for projects and programs that benefit the Inuit community including mental health supports and community initiatives.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage mental health services and community initiatives and direct their activities to achieve expected results.
  • Manage and promote the delivery of highquality programming to agencies, hospitals, schools and other mainstream organizations.
  • Manage policies, procedures and tools in all aspects of program delivery for external and internal stakeholders including hospitals and schools.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of direct reports.
  • Manage staff in resolving issues that arise in delivery of services.
  • Lead proposal development, and support staff in the writing of proposals and program reports. Conduct and or oversee program evaluations.
  • Adhere to and promote the mandate and mission of the IC.
  • In partnership with Manager of HR assist in the hiring process of staff in keeping with IC policies and procedures.
  • Work with project/program staff and support them in meeting all their program deliverables.
  • Provide regular feedback, acknowledge success and the need for improvement.
  • Supervise the clinical work of mental health staff to ensure that practices support the development of staff, protect clients, and ensure appropriate policies and procedures are developed and adhered to.
  • Develop funding proposals in collaboration with team members.
  • Develop and monitor budgets for community and mental health projects/programs and work closely with project/program delivery staff to monitor expenditures.
  • Seek funding for community initiatives and mental health programs.
  • Review and approve reporting plans, records and various reports including statistics on projects, surveys, etc.
  • Provide reports to the Director of Programs as required in a timely fashion.
  • Establish and foster good working relationships with IC funders.
  • Ensure that all programs are reflective of the needs of the community and are based on best cultural practice's including trauma informed practices.
  • Represent IC at meetings, presentations and conferences with stakeholders including partner agencies, funders and government.
  • Engage with various agencies and stakeholders to strengthen, develop, and promote programs and services and strengthen outcomes for the Inuit community.
  • Establish connections and relationships with Inuit and mainstream organizations that benefit the delivery of quality programs and services.
  • Work with staff to ensure that projects/programs are promoted within the community and oversee the development of appropriate promotional and information resources.
  • Adhere to and promote the mandate and mission of the IC
  • Other duties as required

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Accountable for the effective and efficient management of community initiatives/ mental health programs in keeping with funder and partner agreements.
  • Accountable for managing program human and financial resources in an effective manner

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Demonstrate stress resistance and stamina in the management of community projects/programs.
  • Manage stress and demonstrate stamina to manage staff and programs as required.
  • Demonstrate mental effort to deal with stress related to safety and security of program participants and program delivery.
  • Physical ability to lift more than 5 lbs., occasional bending, and twisting.
  • Work regular and consistent weekly hours of work.
  • May be required to work some evenings related to supervision of projects/programs.
  • Additional hours on occasion to meet deadlines and ensure delivery of highquality programs and services.
  • Some travel to meetings may be required.
  • Ensure personal safety precautions are observed at all times according to IC health and safety procedures.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of cultural issues pertaining to Inuit culture and history and ability to transfer that knowledge in a meaningful manner.
  • Knowledge of Inuit and nonInuit community services and supports.
  • Fluency in Inuktitut an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Presentations and public speaking may be required.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience in managing Human resources in the delivery of community resources.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Networking and partnershipbuilding skills.
