Summary


The Supervisor, Maintenance is responsible for overseeing various departmental functions that include repair and maintenance of equipment, parts inventory management and management of staffing levels and issues.

This position is required to effectively and efficiently manage day-to-day maintenance issues as well as provide assistance to the Manager, Maintenance in identifying and implementing practices and procedures that support the Company's current business operations and future goals regarding achieving production efficiencies and cost savings through reliable technical productivity.

The Supervisor, Maintenance works out of our Acheson facility and reports to the Manager, Maintenance.

Responsibilities

Safety_

  • Ensure compliance to Company's policies, practices and procedures related to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and the Environment
  • Comply with all safety training and departmental SOPs, and with all regulations relating to equipment and chemical approvals for a food manufacturing facility
  • Ensure that all reporting employees are aware of, and comply with, company policies and procedures related to health and safety and to the environment and commit to personal compliance

Leadership_

  • Provide direction, supervision to diverse workforce of 5 to 10 employees
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage employee performance
  • Provide daily direction to team and ensure job tasks are done efficiently and safely
  • Manage time & attendance of team
  • Develop and maintain good communication practices with departmental Production staff to advise of lead times required to obtain maintenance parts, and/or services

Maintenance_

  • Assist in the identification and implementation of practices, procedures and service systems that will successfully address daytoday maintenance issues and create opportunity to improve future production capacities and/or productivity
  • Oversee implementation and compliance with all aspects of security and preventative maintenance for the building, equipment and inventory, and all environmental issues and health and safety aspects for the departmental workforce
  • Manage and maintain the Preventative Maintenance computer program
  • Analyze equipment issues, identify solutions, or determine options for resolution and ensure repairs to the facility and/or equipment are carried out on a least cost basis
  • Create and maintain appropriate work orders, reports, and records, including information related to repair turnaround time
  • Participate in regular discussions and/or meetings with the Manager, Maintenance with regard to determination of budget items related to maintenance and other related issues

  • Consult and organize activities with other teams and departments
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or related environment
  • Postsecondary education in a technical field and/or Journeyperson Electrician, Millwright or Welder Certificate
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to successfully complete preemployment process
  • Proficiency in MS Office required, and experience in UKG considered an asset
  • Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol and FittoWork test up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to clear a Criminal Record Check and provide references

Working Conditions

  • Work environment is in a pet food production environment, with exposure to dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures
  • Overtime and Saturdays as required


Working Monday
  • Friday, rotating between Day Shift and Afternoon Shift
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Job duties require physical exertion, including the ability to manually lift up to 50 pounds while using established safe lift procedures
  • Work activities will include both indoor and outdoor environments

$40.00-$46.00 per hour
