Acheson, Canada Precon Manufacturing Ltd Full time

**Precon Manufacturing is looking for an individual to join our team as a Forklift Operator at our Edmonton (Acheson) location.**
- **Start date**:As early as June 2024
- **Hours**: 40 hours/week. Monday to Friday, occasional Saturdays, or weekends. 8:00am-4:30pm.
- **Compensation**: Starting rate of $20-$25/hour, commensurate with previous experience.

Forklift Operators at Precon are responsible for the safe and efficient placement of product, materials, and equipment in and around the yard. The successful individual must be dedicated to safety, reliable, punctual, and team player. They must also be detail-orientated and have an excellent work ethic.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Operate various sizes of forklifts and other motorized equipment safely and efficiently to load concrete product onto trucks for outgoing shipment, as well as to organize inventory and the yard areas.
- Inspect loads for accuracy and secure material for transport in accordance with policies, procedures, checklists, and other expectations. Manually or mechanically load and unload materials safely.
- Perform routine operational inspections and maintenance on forklifts or other motorized equipment.
- One trained and competent, operate concrete core drilling machinery.
- Creation of BOL's; filing of shipping and receiving documentation.
- Promptly notify appropriate personnel of any issues according to policy, procedures and expectations. Take proper steps to lock out and remove from service any affected equipment, to ensure safety so that no one else uses the equipment by mistake in the meantime.
- Maintain cleanliness and regular upkeep of your work area, the yard, and any other applicable equipment.
- Participate in training, on-going learning opportunities and meetings, i.e., morning Toolbox meetings/stretches, weekly Health & Safety meetings, and others.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Participate towards the completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed.

**Requirements**:

- **Reliable**. Can show up to work _on time, ready for work, as scheduled_. Has reliable transportation to get to and from our Northern location in West Acheson.
- **Available **to work full-time hours May to August 2023.
- Strong work ethic, **positive attitude**, team spirit. Approaches problems with challenges and solutions.
- **Strong communication skills**. Able to communicate with others effectively and respectfully.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to work well with others.
- Proficient with basic technology (mobile phones, apps, etc.), and computers.
- WHMIS 2015 certificate.

**Bonus Points for**
- 2+ years forklift operation experience is considered an asset.
- Active (not expired) forklift ticket.
- Experience operating forklifts with 25000 lbs capacity/other heavy motorized equipment.
- Experience operating coring machinery.
- Experience in manufacturing, production, or construction industry.

**Work Conditions and Context**
- **Travel/Transportation**: Reliable transportation is required. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may also be expected for training purposes.
- **Conditions**: Majority of the work will be performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures and will involve conditions of heat, cold, dust, noise, wind. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (i.e., high-visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, mask, etc.) and potential specialty PPE for any circumstances that may require it. Work may also involve things such as climbing ladders, working at heights, using Lock Out Tag Out (training will be provided), etc.
- **Equipment and Machinery**: Regularly required to operate and assist in maintaining mobile equipment.
- **Telecommuting/Working from home**:Not available.
- **Technology**:Use of technology, phones, computers, and programs, etc. is required.
- **Communication**: Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, managers.
