Responsibilities:

  • Providing holistic student support, advising students on academic decisionmaking as it relates to graduation/career outcomes, including program changes, major changes and course planning
  • Advising students on resumes, cover letters, interviews, and career development methods and strategies
  • Collaborating with other departments and faculties to promote informationsharing and consistent communication with students
Creating methods for effective service data collection to analyze deliverables and meet goals for career and academic success advising

  • Collaborating with the Student Life & Learning team and developing positive internal relationships with staff and faculty
  • General advising and presenting, and organizing career related events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 3 years of related work experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of postsecondary educational systems, especially degree programs and their potential career outcomes.
  • A studentfirst approach to student services, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of career exploration and development theories and tools, as well as resume, cover letter, and job interview best practices.
  • Able to use a variety of advising and/or coaching approaches to meet students' needs and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with personal information within privacy legislation and university policies.
  • Excellent judgment and decisionmaking skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities while working in a publicfacing space.
  • An enthusiastic team player ready to collaborate with staff, faculty, and our Student Life & Learning team to provide exceptional student service.
  • Proficiency with Google Apps, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with educational technologies, with an aptitude to learn other software as required.
  • Successful clear criminal record check (completed at hire).
