This position reports directly to the Service Manager. The following summarizes some key elements of the role.

Lead Hand:


As a company that deals constantly in the shifting of large construction equipment, our technician positions are vital to our success.

The shop lead hand will be an experienced technician, with prior experience in performing failure analysis and repair on all types of construction equipment.

Leadership and supervisory experience is necessary, as this position is the liaison between the shop, rental and CCE equipment coordinators.


Lead Hand Responsibilities**:

  • Responsible to ensure Battlefield safety policies and practices are implemented and followed in the shop;
  • Ensure all team members on adhering to onthejob safety requirements;
  • Assign daytoday work assignments to the service team;
  • Act as a technical advisor on major repairs when needed;
  • Work with the junior techs to improve their technical acumen;
  • Work with the service manager to determine when fleet units have reached their life span;
  • Act as a liaison between head office and our technicians when diagnosing difficult problems;
  • Ensure the techs have the necessary tools to complete all jobs safely and effectively;
  • Accurately record productivity levels and quality of work performed;
  • Coordinate tasks with the service manager and oversee the activities of the department;
  • Help integrate new technicians into the shop and ensure they follow existing procedures;
  • Maintain shop organization and cleanliness;
  • Ensure tasks are completed in an appropriate timeframe;
  • Assist technicians with repairs when second person is needed;
  • Assist service coordinators and customers with technical questions;
  • Perform repairs as necessary;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
