To this end, CNA offers a range of services:

regulatory and government affairs; research and policy development; advocacy to advance member-relevant interests in the political and public spheres and, programs and external and member communications to support the association's objectives.


What we are looking for:

We are seeking a post-secondary student to conduct policy research in support of CNA member goals and objectives.
The position reports to the Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Policy and Corporate Events.

We are a small and nimble team, and we are looking for someone that loves learning, and is interested in expanding their research and writing skills.

You love working independently yet are equally interested in working as a team by pulling a deliverable together in a collaborative environment.


What you will be doing:

In this role, you will be supporting the team with a variety of projects to support your learning experience. This includes researching and preparing policy-related materials in support of energy-related projects. This may include foundational or background research material for internal use or externally in support of our membership.

You may be collaborating with CNA team members to draft, and develop policy work related to the energy sector, specifically nuclear in a national and international context.

You could be conducting qualitative and quantitative research; leading or contributing to the development of reports, policy briefs, and other outputs.

We may need you to communicate your research findings and policy recommendations to a variety of audiences via events and outreach, written blogs, and op-eds, presentations to target audiences (including policymakers and media), and more.

You will need to keep up to date regarding key policy issues in the nuclear sector.


It would be important that you are planning to go back to school in Sept 2024 as this is a requirement of the Federal Student summer student program.

You must be participating in a university or college degree in political science, business, engineering, law or related field of study.


We are looking for the following experience and skills:

  • Solid writing and communication skills.
  • Some experience in planning and developing a wide array of communication content/material including web content, fact sheets, backgrounders, speeches, and news releases.
  • Understanding of and exposure to:
  • project management
- policy development/frameworks

We consider these skills and abilities an asset:

  • Ability to work in both English and French.
  • Familiarity with policy, research, and advocacy strategies.
  • Knowledge of the priorities and policies of the Government of Canada as they relate to the nuclear energy sector.
