The City of Coquitlam has an exciting opportunity for an auxiliary (on-call), part-time Human Resources Assistant to join our team.

Teamwork is at the heart of our day to day work.

In addition to working with the Employment and HR Advisory Services team, our division is collaborative and occasionally assists members of the broader team including Health and Safety, Organizational Training and Development, and Labour Relations.

You will be the face of human resources to new applicants and employees. We are seeking someone who possesses strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a can-do attitude. The ability to maintain confidential information is critical. We are always striving for continuous improvements, and welcome your ideas for process efficiencies.

Additional requirements for success in this role include:

  • Advanced computer/word processing skills in MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Outstanding customer service skills and strong political acumen
  • Basic understanding of unionized and excluded recruitment practices
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy in carrying out administrative employment related tasks
  • Ability to showcase initiative in proactively thinking ahead to next steps in the recruitment process
  • The ability to thrive in a fastpaced, progressive work environment while meeting tight deadlines
  • A high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in upholding the values of our organization and human resources practices
  • Knowledge of applicant tracking systems and human resources information systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of progressive applicant tracking systems and human resources information systems. Experience with Peoplesoft and/or Cegid is preferred
  • Administrative experience within a public sector human resources team is an asset
  • Any relevant experience and expertise in information systems and/or applicant tracking systems
  • Your experience managing full cycle recruitments (posting to hiring)
  • Your knowledge and experience relating general administration and clerical duties in a professional setting
  • Related education and experience specific to this position

The City offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees. Applicants under consideration may be required to undergo a police information check (with no adverse reports).
