Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for:
- financial administration of funds overseen by the Controller's Office,
- the provision of operational support for the Financial Services Department
- office administration for the Associate Vice President, Financial Services and the Controller's Office

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and terminology, with a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and CRA legislation being a strong asset,
  • Knowledge of financial services and practices within the university as well as the broader university offices, academic units, departments, and divisions
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of office administration policies, procedures, and processes
  • Have strong skills in spreadsheet analysis and a high degree of competency with Microsoft Office software, including but not limited to, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and internet browsers
  • Have a strong understanding of Carleton University Financial Management Systems

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Diploma in Business and/or Accounting
  • University/College degree with an emphasis on Business and/or Accounting would be preferred
  • Minimum of three year's experience with business administration and/or accounting duties
