As a Senior Department Accountant, you will lead a team of accountants to provide financial services support. Primary duties include:

Work with Financial Services Lead in developing and implementing work plans. Work with direct reports to compile, prepare, reconcile, analyze and consolidate financial information. Check and review year-end and quarterly financial statements with supporting working papers and schedules and reply to auditor's queries. Provide guidance in The City's policies/procedure as well as training and staff progress monitoring against planned objectives and competencies. Help with developing and enhancing financial processes, controls, systems and management reports that are responsive to corporate governance, department and business units. Prepare financial reviews and analysis, costing, cash flow analysis, forecasting and modelling, sensitivity analysis, financial ratios, statement of financial position for Financial Services Lead and Financial Leads. Supervise and provide leadership and direction to staff. Help with hiring including initiating job posting, review and screen applications, select interview questions, participate in interviews and recommend successful applicants. Qualifications A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, combined with five or more years of financial experience. Ability to mentor and lead effective teams, develop staff and provide customer service under pressure. Proficient in Excel and various financial systems. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial and Supply Chain Management (FSCM), Human Capital Management (HCM) and Hyperion (Budget Planning and Reporting), and Oracle SmartView for Microsoft Office will be considered assets. Previous experience with capital asset accounting, and large operating and capital budgets will be considered assets. Experience with sub-ledger maintenance and complex reconciliations will be an asset. Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills are essential to this role.
