What you'll do

  • Manages the resources of a team of MMU Clinical Resources Nurses and paramedical staff to achieve clinical goals and objectives. Provide effective leadership, guidance, support, mentorship and daytoday frontline operations management.
  • Participate in strategic short and long term operational initiatives and project planning activities including budget preparation and management for the delivery of programs and services.
  • Applies project methodology to strategic and operational initiatives including identification and engagement of key stakeholders, development of detailed project charters, plans, and objectives, timelines and project deliverables.
  • Tracks initiative progress according to project plan, monitors and reports on the status of projects and major issues/obstacles encountered. Makes recommendations regarding scope changes.
  • Supports the development and implementation of MMU plans, goals and objectives consistent with the mission and strategic plan of the PHSA and the MMU. Implements deployment strategies to ensure MMU clinical assets can be deployed throughout the province of BC, to respond to emergency disaster/recovery in each of the health regions, as well as planned deployments for event related surge capacity.
  • Participates in development and monitoring of associated budgets within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best utilization methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.
  • Works with the MMU team and the host site clinical leads to develop staging and equipment requirements in order to support the most efficient patient flow. Ensures comprehensive familiarization with the clinical systems and equipment in the MMU, and assists MMU clinical staff with practical training.
  • Provides leadership and direction to team members, conveys policies and priorities, coordinates work and ensures issues are resolved or escalated to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.
  • Provides expert knowledge and collaborates with the Director to advance innovation, identify risks, high priority initiatives, develop briefing papers, business cases and other decision support documents.
  • Ensures that ongoing preventative maintenance for all clinical equipment, including minor capital, is implemented. Develops a clinical equipment maintenance regimen to support the strategic goals associated with deployment readiness. Maintains partnerships with internal PHSA agencies and external partners, including but not limited to biomedical, DAP, Lower Mainland Consolidated Pharmacy, education programs, and vendors.
  • Maintains guidelines, policies and procedures for equipment, supplies and clinical standards
  • Completes inventory management of medical supplies according to MMU spectrum of care mandates. Responsible to maintain baseline clinical emergency supplies.
  • Prepares core training program material required to ensure host Health Authority staff gain the familiarity/competency required. Contributes to the team in developing training programs and resources in a variety of formats such as web based modules, visual selfdirected learning, and simulations training during deployments.
  • Collaborates with external and internal partners to better understand their needs and to gain support.

What you bring

Qualifications:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a health related discipline, plus a minimum of ten years recent active clinical experience working in Emergency and/or Critical Care in a variety of settings. Active deployment experience working in austere conditions an asset. Experience with development of clinical educational programs, exercise scenario development and implementation. Experience working within research and project management considered an asset.
