Accessory Shop Manager


The Accessory Shop Manager will be responsible for the overall functions of the shop and the strategic role it plays within the organization to support all business functions.

The Accessory Shop Manager will be responsible to ensure that the department is aligned with the Company goals and objectives; budget for equipment and staffing as well as manage Contracts for services provided or elicited.


What does a Accessory Shop Manager do?

Accessory Shop Management

  • Coordinate and organize resources to ensure outstanding work will be completed in the required time frame.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and training to personnel.
  • Work with Customers to ensure the repairs are planned and scheduled to meet expectations.
  • Work with Vendors to ensure repairs and supplies meet expectations.
  • Foster growth and direct change to increase capacity, capabilities, and personnel development.
  • Ensure company procedures and policies are being followed to ensure a safe workplace and airworthy product.
  • Provide Quality checks and audits to ensure processes are followed and work is being completed within the expected parameters.
  • Complete, evaluate, and examine the financial reporting, estimates and invoicing of the Accessory Shop.
  • Provide executive level summary of shop activity and production volumes.
  • Manage Shop inventory levels to ensure adequate quantities for forecasted work.

Customer and Vendor Relations

  • Foster relations with customers that strengthen the working relationship and meeting the expectations of current contract and future opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with new customers for opportunities of future work.
  • Develop relationships with vendors that strengthen our needs, expectations, and quality requirements.

Contracts and Agreements

  • Negotiate agreements with vendors to ensure reduction in materials cost, and supply is available based on expected volume.
  • Negotiate contract agreements with repair facilities to provide services at favorable rates and guaranteed turn times.
  • Negotiate contracts with customers to provide services for fixed term or oneoff work.
  • Review contracts annually to ensure they remain active and relevant for work being completed.

Accessory Shop Training and Development

  • Identify and arrange mentoring, training, and professional development to ensure personnel have the skills required for current position and planned advancement.
  • Identify needs and pinch points within the process and develop new processes to increase efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to increase overall shop capabilities and areas for expansion and growth.

Accessory Shop Budget Development

  • Develop annual and longrange budget to ensure the shop will have the labour resources available to meet contract requirements, succession, and advancement of shop personnel.
  • Develop budget items for capital expenditures to support shop and capabilities expansion in line with Company goals and objectives.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Participation on specific safety forums (OSR, Corporate Safety, OSH, ERT, etc.) and any other "management review" activities as required.
  • Ensure Accessory Shop work packages are meeting the regulations and customer expectations.
  • Participate as required in audits, checks, onsite oversite, and offsite vendor audits.
  • Create safe procedures for new and established work to ensure personnel safety and reduce financial risk.
  • Participation in Voyageur's comprehensive Safety and Risk Management System.

What you bring to the table

  • Technical diploma or degree in aviation, aerospace, or engineering
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) license and/or Commerce diploma or degree considered an asset.
  • 5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • This position requires an individual with an aviation/aerospace industry background, specifically with the management and repair of aircraft components.
