SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Advisor, Educational Programs, develops content for the educational market with an emphasis on curriculum objectives in Canadian schools.

The position involves seeking out and managing partnerships with key stakeholders in the educational field, consulting with NFB production staff on the priorities of the Education department, developing activities and events based on content found in the NFB collection, and producing major pedagogical tools that enable the effective use of NFB educational resources in the classroom.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the Head, Content and Marketing, identifies opportunities for the development of valueadded educational content for the NFB's online, mobile and inperson educational programs and identifies partnership opportunities related to these same activities.
  • Manages the programming of events related to the development of educational content, including pedagogical resources, in collaboration with Distribution, Communications and Marketing, production staff and the appropriate partners and suppliers.
  • In collaboration with Education department staff, manages the production/project assessment process, the evaluation of new projects and relevant documentation, for the purposes of providing feedback to the Program branches and the Distribution, Communications and Marketing planning process.
  • Manages the research, development and production of major pedagogical resources for individual productions or collections.
  • In collaboration with the Head and the Partnerships and Institutional Projects department, manages strategic partnerships with various educational organizations and government departments at the federal, regional and local level, where these partnerships contribute to the development and distribution of NFB educational content.
  • Recruits and manages specialized consultants, including curriculum consultants.
  • Monitors trends and best practices in the field of educational media, particularly in the areas of elearning and media literacy, and advises the Head and other NFB staff on strategies and practices that will allow the NFB to better reach this important sector.
  • Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Media or a related field such as Communication, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in curriculum development;

  • Bilingualism in both official languages (French and English), both orally and in writing.
