Building a community of hope since 1987, we would like to invite you to join our journey. Siloam Mission is currently seeking for a permanent full-time Supervisor of Drop-In Programming.

The Drop-In Supervisor will provide professional and proactive support to frontline staff. They are responsible for prioritizing and delegating workload to staff. In consultation with management, this position will help to provide daily feedback and supervision to the team. They will also provide direct support to community members using trauma-informed and culturally safe practices.

POSITION DUTIES
Coordinate tasks with staff and Facilitate team meetings.

Coordinate distribution of clothing to other organizations and evaluate on an ongoing basis when clothing items that come in might be suitable for other Siloam needs, and events.

Coordinating with the shipping and receiving team in regard to daily tasks.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with department personnel, service providers, community members, volunteers, and community resource agencies;
Lead a team of Clothing & Hygiene staff and train new employees; by providing on-site day-to-day supervision and working alongside the team to provide care to Siloam's community;
Assist in the recruitment, selection process, and training of Drop-In team members;
Train staff in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure they are able to perform all duties of their position in an efficient and professional manner;
Provide professional and informative orientation of Staff and Volunteers;
Provide direction, leadership, and supervision to the Clothing staff;
Work, as a part of the Clothing Management team to accomplish performance reviews, training, and development of the team members;
Monitor, evaluate, and communicate the progress of staff with the staff themselves, management, and fellow team members on a regular basis;

Coordinate programming in the drop-in that aligns with best practices, offering literacy and growth opportunities that align with peoples need as they recover.

Deal with staff concerns that arise on-site in a timely and appropriate manner;
Mediates conflict between staff or staff and community members as needed or upon request;
Delegate and assign the work as per the priority and ensure that each drop-in staff performs their duties as per the required standards;
Oversee program purchases, and maintain stock of supplies;
Assists management in the implementation of new policies and practices
Provide direct support for community members accessing Siloam Mission's services in a professional manner;
Provide professional compassionate daily feedback and address behavioral concerns with community members.
Coordinate scheduling of operations, and ensure the department has a sufficient complement of staff to efficiently perform all the required duties of the department;
Process bi-weekly Payroll for the Clothing Team;
Oversees crisis response plan and ensures the plan is followed;
Ensure Volunteers are treated with equality, respect, and dignity and support them to have a positive experience;
Prepare and complete incident reports, daily logs, and other required documents and reports;
Ensure crisis/conflict situations are medicated with the use of non-violent intervention techniques (NVCI) taking corrective action as needed;
Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of community members, staff, and Siloam Mission at all times.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary education in relevant social services or equivalent work experience;
Experience and demonstrated ability to lead a team and work collaboratively as part of a team;
Demonstrated knowledge of Cultural Awareness, Anti-Oppressive Practice, Trauma Informed best practices, NVCI, ASIST, CPR First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid

  • 2 years of leadership experience preferred;
Experience in working with HIFIS4, Housing Plus databases is an asset;
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIORS

Competent to respond appropriately to violent situations using NVCI;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work with a diverse staff team and promote inclusion and cultural awareness in the workplace;
Demonstrated understanding of the unique issues and barriers affecting those experiencing poverty and homelessness;
Ability to work within a harm reduction framework;
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
Ability to communicate appropriate professional boundaries;
MS Office and data entry skills;

RELATIONSHIP
Works closely with Clothing/Drop-in Staff, Community Members, Volunteers and various other departments of Siloam Mission.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
May be required to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
