But to do this, we need a team that truly reflects the richness and diversity of Canada. Responsible for the automation, storage and use of organizational data within the NFB. Participates in the selection of technology for database and information-management software, and installs, configures, administers and optimizes these solutions. Ensures the integrity and security of data, provides technical assistance to users and, on occasion, facilitates their training. Develops data-access procedures and collaborates with software developers to optimize procedures, data and systems for existing or new applications. Works closely with colleagues on data governance, analytics and system administration to ensure data accuracy, security and accessibility.
Contributes to the IT efficiency of organizational activities by designing, administering and evolving database servers.
Oversees the operation, protection and usage control of databases under their responsibility.
Creates and maintains the database schemas holding the data models.

Participates in the administration of database servers, including data operations, maintenance, security, optimization, batch processing, migration and data transformation.

Supports and guides their colleagues, developers and system administrators in writing effective data-access requests.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent;
Master's degree in information systems is an asset;
Minimum five (5) years' experience performing tasks related to information-systems administration and implementation and providing advice and solutions;
Relevant experience working with data organization and unstructured datasets, performing analysis and providing recommendations to clients;
Significant experience designing and modelling database or information systems, big-data pipelines, data lakes, data mining, hybrid or cloud architectures, including capacity planning and security;
Experience installing, configuring, performance tuning, optimizing and troubleshooting MySQL, Oracle and SQL Server databases;
Proficiency with programming languages such as Java or Python;
Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems;
Bilingualism in both official languages (French and English), both orally and in writing.
