Temporary Full Time Groundskeeper

The Groundkeeper position involves maintaining the grounds at the New Hope Community Church.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure upkeep of property, including mowing lawns, clearing snow, cleaning windows, picking up litter, gardening, and more.
  • Pick up equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Support the Food bank with organizing donations, keeping the area clean, and assisting with food deliveries.

Health and Safety

  • Properly store and maintain equipment.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Temporary full-time position for 8 weeks, 30 hours per week.
  • Flexibility required, including possible Saturdays.
  • Work environment is primarily on the property.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Job tasks include operating tools, bending, lifting, and more.
  • Travel may be necessary.
  • Steel-toed boots are mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Funded by Canada Summer Jobs Program, criteria include age, citizenship, and work eligibility.
  • Applicant must hold a valid Social Insurance Number.
  • High School completion is required.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum of one year related experience, including gardening and equipment operation.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Follow safety procedures and demonstrate good work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication skills and integrity.
  • Organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Willingness to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
