Effective January 1st, 2024 the salary range for this position is $1,852.71 to $2,314.51 per week in compliance with OPSEU Unified Bargaining Unit collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to January 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

About the Emergency Health I&IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch
The Emergency Health I+IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch (EHSTMB) provides technologies to support 911 ambulance communications and emergency health regulatory and oversight including Infrastructure, applications/software and data needs.

Our large and mission critical operations supporting 9-1-1 ambulance communication results in close collaboration with ambulance dispatch operational managers, paramedic services, ORNGE, other first responders and hospital emergency departments to ensure communication technologies are running smoothly and are well integrated to support policies and programs under the Ontario Ambulance Act. EHSTMB plans for and implements new, best-in-class technologies that prioritize 9-1-1 calls and help dispatchers and first responders assure the right resources are assigned to the right place, with the right information, at the right time.

What can I expect to do in this role?As a Senior Specialist, you will:
• Work with cluster development & operations teams towards dev-ops automation and technical data applications support.
• Set up tools and required dev-ops infrastructure, defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operations.
• Lead functional and technical teams to plan, design, develop, implement, maintain and support ministry and/or enterprise applications
• Select and deploy appropriate CI/CD tools, strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipelines (CI/CD Pipeline)
• Provide Tier 2/3 assistance to the team in resolving tickets, defects, as needed
• Provide authoritative technical advice and expertise on the design, development, deployment and ongoing operation of complex integrated systems and technology platforms that are aligned with our ministries' strategic priorities and digital services transformation objectives
• Provide focused coaching and mentoring junior developers on areas that are important to the project, team and organization

How do I qualify?Leadership and Coordination:You have the ability to:
• lead and coordinate investigations and analyze specialized information technology requirements
• provide technical leadership to scrum teams in designing, developing, and delivering IT Solutions
• lead committees and client dialogues to negotiate agreements on technological solutions

Technical Knowledge:You have knowledge of, and experience with:
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): proficiency with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation (for AWS), or Azure Resource Manager to automate the provisioning of infrastructure, ensuring consistency and scalability.
• Containerization and Orchestration: experience with Docker for containerization and Kubernetes or Docker Swarm for orchestration to manage microservices and application deployment.
• Network and Security: understanding of network architectures, security protocols, and best practices in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting: ability to diagnose and resolve system performance issues, optimizing configurations for best performance across different environments.
• Configuration Management: experience with tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for automating the configuration and management of software across numerous machines, improving consistency and reliability.
• CI/CD Pipelines: experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions for automating the stages of software delivery from code integration to deployment.
• Cloud Platforms: knowledge of services provided by Azure, or AWS, focusing on computing, storage, database, and networking services.
• Cloud Monitoring Solutions: working knowledge of Azure Application Insights, Elastic Search Datadog, Splunk, etc.
• Real-time Data Processing Solutions: experience with technologies such as OpenShift, Debezium, Azure Event Hub, Change Data Capture (CDC) Streaming Analytics and Data Factory.
• DevOps Practices: embrace practices to improve collaboration between development and operations teams, enhancing software delivery speed and quality.
• Agile and Scrum Methodologies: experience in agile development practices, using Scrum or Kanban to manage projects and deliver value incrementally.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:You can:
