The Opportunity

As a Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, you will play an essential role supporting our Health, Fitness, and Recreation (HMR) department. In this role, you will create engaging content and implement marketing strategies that showcase our programs and their positive impact on the community. Your work will involve storytelling through social media, newsletters, and promotional materials. This position operates primarily Monday to Friday, with event support required on evenings and weekends as needed; and you will report to the Manager of Marketing and Communications. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications plans for the HMR department and Irving Oil Fieldhouse (IOFH) to enhance program visibility and community engagement.
  • Create and update content for websites, social media, and digital platforms, ensuring cohesive messaging.
  • Produce engaging social media posts and promotional materials that highlight the YMCA's impact, capturing new photos and videos regularly.
  • Write and distribute newsletters, updates, and “Y Stories” to keep members informed and engaged.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote events and activities that foster community involvement.
  • Uphold YMCA and IOFH branding guidelines across all communications and promotional materials.
  • Design promotional materials, including brochures and banners, working with external partners when necessary.
  • Stay updated on marketing trends to enhance outreach strategies.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in social media management and storytelling.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools, such as Canva; knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
  • Basic photography and videography skills.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising; experience in paid ads is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), website management, and email marketing platforms.
  • Passion for community engagement in health, fitness, and recreation.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check.
