As the Accounting & Payroll Specialist, you will be reporting directly to the VP of Finance. The ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to manage general/ full cycle bookkeeping and accounting, as well as full cycle payroll through previous education and/ or work experience.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized, meticulous, and self-motivated individual who is passionate about improving month-end processes. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and seize opportunities to take ownership. You can think outside of the box, and you love to develop creative solutions to complex and challenging problems.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and accruals.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and schedules on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, and prepare monthly/ annual tax filings.
  • Accounting review of expense reports for the company to ensure they are complete and transactions are classified properly for accounting purposes.
  • Projects and other administrative items as required.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in private companies (accounting firm experience is an asset).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with payroll processing is an asset.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Netsuite is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
