NOTE: This posting may be used to fill multiple positions.

The Architectural Technology program is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual with strong communication skills who is committed to student success, satisfaction, motivation, and achievement and in participating in the team concept of program operation. The Instructor is responsible for assisting in the effective operation and development of the programs including holistic student engagement, course development and ever-greening.

Areas of focus for potential candidates include:

  • Experience in commercial design with a focus on technical aspects such as working drawings, building code, specifications etc.
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in the use of REVIT
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and Sketchup and other graphic rendering software required
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable with learning new technologies as they arise
  • Bringing passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present content in the classroom and online
Facilitate learning by utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environmentPrepare, administer, and grade assessments such as exams and assignmentsOrganize and supervise practical assignmentsEnsure learning is evaluated in a reliable and timely manner, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students; submit marks/records promptlyCollaborate with colleagues and teaching teams regularly to ensure consistency and quality of curriculum and instructionProvide coaching or referral for students who are experiencing difficulties in order to maximize retention and student successRegularly solicit feedback on instruction from students and colleagues and use the results to improve instructional deliveryIn accordance with a designated framework, utilize appropriate educational technology for communications, presentations, and program promotionMaintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partnersOther duties as assigned

Qualifications:

A degree in Architecture or a diploma in Architectural Technology is a requirementEligibility for membership or affiliate membership with any provincial or national accrediting body is an assetOther combinations of relevant training and experience may be consideredRelated instructional experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset

Remuneration: $99/ scheduled instructional hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holiday and vacation pay - (Classification: Instructor A)

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.

Candidates selected for an interview will be required to do a teaching demonstration (5-8 minutes) on any topic covered in the program.
