The Sustainable Resources Division is responsible for planning and managing Yukon's agriculture, forest and land resources throughout the territory. We work closely with First Nation governments, industry, stakeholders and the public to ensure a balanced, sustainable approach to resource management.

The Manager, Legislation and Consultation, leads and oversees legislation and policy development to ensure the Government of Yukon meets our responsibilities under the Devolution Transfer Agreement, First Nation Final Agreements and various statutes. This role provides strategic program and policy support throughout the Sustainable Resources division and collaborates with colleagues within Yukon government to advance key initiatives. The Manager is responsible for leading consultation and negotiations with our First Nation partners. We are looking for an influential leader who is self-directed, action-oriented, and can adeptly respond to shifting priorities.

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in public administration, intergovernmental relations, resource management or a related field
  • Experience working and negotiating with Indigenous groups or governments
  • Experience in leading and successfully implementing major initiatives/projects
  • Significant experience in policy development and analysis
  • Experience in the natural resource management sector will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Yukon Final Umbrella Agreement and Yukon First Nation Final Agreements will be considered an asset

Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate their competence according to the standards set within the Yukon Government Core Competency Framework. Conditions of Employment: Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
